I have a friend who owns a foot bike (actually two). The first time I saw her gliding through the neighborhood on it I couldn't help but smile because I have never seen a contraption like that before. We've talked about this little bike and how you could use it to train for running races. I didn't fully believe her because to me, if you are going to run a race, you have to actually practice running (I know that isn't entirely true, but that is my philosophy). She invited me to go with her this morning and while I was getting ready I kept thinking to myself that I shouldn't expect much of a workout. OH how I was so WRONG!! That thing is AWESOME!!! I seriously got a FULL BODY workout and to top it off my legs were on fire. The good kind. The muscles in the standing leg from the arch of my foot to my butt were getting an amazing workout and the best part was, you switch legs when you can't handle the pain anymore (for me that was every couple minutes). You have to keep your core tight to keep your balance, for me this was hard, I realized, I have little core strength. And you shoulders and arms get SOOOO tired after a while because you are doing somewhat of a little push up with each movement. I have to say I'm seriously IN LOVE with this bike thingy and I'm going to have to get me one.
